Tagaytay ready for 500K New Year Guests
MyTagaytay | Tagaytay ready for 500K New Year guests | Mayor Abraham Tolentino expects around 500,000 tourists to visit Tagaytay before the New Year.
Tolentino told a press briefing on Thursday that the city’s temperate weather, proximity to Metro Manila, and tourist events draw more people during the New Year than Christmas.
Tourists may have increased because the Taal Volcano has been quiet recently, the mayor said.
Tourists bring considerable traffic, which is exacerbated by the construction of the Barangay Mendez-Crossing East Junction flyover, projected to conclude in 2024.
Tolentino told visitors traveling to Tagaytay or adjacent towns that bypass highways have been opened amid these worries.
He said, “We’re prepared for overtime for our traffic enforcers. We offered two alternatives. We deployed personnel and signs before entering Tagaytay to show that alternate routes bypass Tagaytay and lead to Aguinaldo Highway without passing through town.” Translated from Taglish
Unfortunately, I can’t stop those who wish to pass past restaurants. Since the weather and other factors prevent me from stopping individuals from bonding with their families in Tagaytay, I apologize and ask for patience. Translated from Taglish
Tolentino encouraged holiday travelers to allow an hour and a half from Manila to Tagaytay and to travel early in the morning to take advantage of the cool weather and fewer traffic and commuters.
